Learn to Grow

Saturday Seminar Series

We developed a series of hands-on seminars for our customers on selected Saturday mornings. We want to help our customers grow the best roses possible and to be able to enjoy their beauty, fragrance and special color without a lot of work.  Rose growing can be easy and rewarding.

Classes will be held at the Rosarium Studio on Saturday mornings at 11:00 AM. Please review the schedule for interesting topics of your choice.

There is no charge for most of our classes and you are not required to register. All are welcome! Please remember to dress appropriately for cooler weather.

Espalier of a Climbing Rose - April 19 & May 3rd

Andrew Espalier Jeannie Lajoie

On each of our pruning days, April 16th and May 3rd we will offer a demonstration on the Espalier of a climbing rose called Jeannie LaJoie. Andrew Smith who has taken on this task for the last two years will demonstrate and give direction on how to accomplish this task.

Espalier is the ancient practice of controlling woody plant growth for the production of fruit or bloom, by the practice of tying branches to a frame, frequently in formal patterns, flat against a structure such as a wall, fence or trellis. We have used a prolifically blooming miniature climbing rose called Jeannie LaJoie  and tied to a small fence in front of our sales cottage.
